Winter Poem E.E

                                            Winter a) Go through the poem and write down the rhyming pairs. (Example: mittens - kittens) A. roof- hoof; trees- breeze;  ringing – singing;  flower – hour b. How does the poet know that its winter time again ? The Winter's Tale (Please refer to the text for Questions) a) Why did Camillo and Polixenes flee to Bohemia? A.Camillo had been ordered by Leontes to poison Polixenes. But Camillo was caught between his loyalty to the king and his conscience. Ultimately, he told Polixenes about the plot against him. Hence, Camillo and Polixenes decided to flee to Bohemia. b) Why did Paulina take  the new born baby to King Leontes? A. Paulina had taken the new born baby to King Leontes, in the hope that the sight of the child would change his attitude towards the queen. c)What caused Leontes to repent his actions? A. The oracle had proclaimed- ‘Hermione is innocent, Polixenes blameless and Leontes will live without an heir, if that which is lost be not found.’ It was then Leontes learnt that both his son and his queen had died of grief. Oliver Twist (E.E)

a. a. Describe the kind of food that was served at the workhouse. How did the boys react to the meal? A. Each boy in the workhouse had one porringer and was served only one ounce of gruel, except on festive occasions when they  were served two ounces of gruel and a quarter of bread. The poor, hungry boys wolfed down the gruel, in such a manner that the bowls always seemed smooth and never really needed any washing. After finishing their meal they would sit and stare eagerly at the copper as they were still hungry and suck their fingers so that not a single morsel would be missed. b.  How and why did Oliver decide to ask for an extra helping of gruel? A. One day, a tall boy threatened to eat the boy he slept next to, if he did not get an extra basin of gruel.
